School of Officer Training
Director: Second Officer
This School of Command consists of three (3) exams:
- OFF101 - Non-Commissioned Officers School Exam (NCOS)
Tests basic knowledge of the USS Matrix organization and operations. References are the Matrix Web site at www.ussmatrix.org, and the Ships Operations Manual (SOM), which is available for download from the website.
- OFF201 - Matrix Officer Basic Training Exam (OBT)
Tests basic leadership, more detailed Matrix organization, and some UFP and Starfleet background information. Also includes an introduction to our parent organization, Starfleet, International. References are the OBT Handbook, provided with the exam, and the SOM.
- OFF301 - Matrix Command Qualification Course Exam (CQC)
An in-depth course covering Leadership Principles and Organizational Skills. Reference is the CQC Handbook, provided with the exam. You will be given a period of thirty (30) days to complete each exam. The first exam to complete is the Midshipman's Exam (NCOS). Upon completion, with the required time in grade and the Captain's approval, you will be promoted to Midshipman (MIDN).
You may request the Matrix Officer Basic Training Exam (OBT), as soon as you have been notified of your successful completion of the NCOS Exam, and you will have thirty (30) days to complete it.
Upon your successful completion of the OBT, the required time in grade, and the Captain's approval, you will be commissioned as an Ensign (ENS) on board
the USS Matrix. The same holds true for the Matrix Command Qualification Course Exam.
The CQC is a requirement for any officer who aspires to be a Commander (CDR) or a Division Chief. You may be appointed as a Division Chief without CQC.
However, you must apply and complete the course within the first 90 days of taking the position.
Upon completion of CQC, and after serving the required time in grade, you will receive a promotion to the next higher grade.
Note that CQC is worth ONE promotion step, and can be used for any promotion beyond Ensign. But, the course MUST be taken prior to promotion to Commander (CDR).
Please do not reproduce or distribute the course or any of the questions.
Consider this as your first test on becoming an officer.
